A Decade of Community Media

Over the past ten years, these initiatives have collectively:

  • Supported 30+ indigenous journalists, fellows, and media practitioners

  • Engaged 7+ indigenous communities across 8 regions

  • Built multi-platform media ecosystems spanning print, radio, film, and digital networks

More importantly, they have contributed to:

  • Knowledge sovereignty and self-representation

  • Strengthening of local languages and cultural practices

  • Community-led responses to ecological and social change

Community media in the Nilgiris is not just about communication. It is about who speaks, who is heard, and how knowledge travels within and beyond communities.
